SL 82726

General Description

The SL82726 is a 4-channel multi-rate VCSEL driver optimized for ultra-low power, fiber related data transport applications with respect to various transmission standards.
The driver is designed in standard CMOS and operates from a single power supply voltage, which may range from 2.5V to 3.3V.
For higher supply voltages, e.g. 5 V, the SL82726 exhibits an internal voltage regulator that, with help of an external npn-transistor, adapts the supply to the internal voltage domain.
The SL82726 supports data rates of up to 4x 3.5 Gbps.
The ultra-low power consumption of only about 4.5 mW at 2.5 V supply makes it possible to use the SL82726 in a single-package
VCSEL/VCSEL-driver hybrid design.
The SL82726 can be DC-coupled to the VCSEL, thereby eliminating the need for any bias filters and saving costs. The VCSEL-driver operates over a
-40 to +100 șC temperature range.
To facilitate assembly in a small form factor package the SL82726 integrates all necessary functions on chip. Except for two external resistors, which define the currents for logic "0" and logic "1", and an EMI-filter capacitor, no external components are needed to operate the driver.

  • Data rate support up to 4x 3.5 Gbps

  • Ultra-low power consumption: typ. 4.5 mW at 4x 3.5 Gbps (25 mW including the power of a typically operated low-threshold VCSEL)

  • Suitable for anode-driven VCSELs
    (common-cathode VCSELs)

  • Supports high VCSEL-forward voltages (Vf):
    up to VSupply - 250mV

  • Separately adjustable currents for
    I0 and I1

  • Single supply voltage: 2.5 V to 3.3 V (5V)
